Fatback Bikes is a small company out of Alaska specializing in building top-of-the-line snow bikes. The Skookum is their newest model and we were able to grab a frame from the first production run. Designed around a 120mm Rock Shox Bluto fork with an aggressive 68.5 deg head tube angle and a svelte 3lb frame weight, the Skookum is the foundation of one heck of a rad fatbike.
We outfitted the bike with some top quality parts from Sram, Rockshoxs, SDG, and Maxxis . The new Atomik Carbon Phatty rims laced to Onyx Racing hubs are one of the real stand out features of the build. Light and stiff, the Atomik hoops make for a great wheel set featuring an impact resistant foam core and 85mm width. The more we deal with the Onyx hubs the more we fall in love with them! Crazy low rolling resistance and the engagement is out of hand! Deity’s new TMAC pedal are also featured on the build and their enormous platform should be a welcome addition to winter riding in big boots, this pedal is quickly becoming a favorite around the shop.
Phil, we hope you like your new ride!
